Wordless Wednesday - Bug on a bug

My little bug on a bug... You should see this child zip around on her little ladybug (of course the hardwood floors don't hurt the speed)...LOL!

Flu bug….don’t bother me (sung to shoo fly and crossin’ my fingers)

I don’t know how much you guys have been following this year’s flu epidemic, but it has been HUGE! Working so many years in healthcare has made me a total germaphobe and I decided a couple months ago to keep Hailey out of the gym daycare. Trust me…it wasn't an easy decision because we both love it!

This year they didn't quite get the flu shots right and they are only about 50% effective (I’m not saying you shouldn't get the flu shot…it’s just not as helpful as normal). Supposedly this is the norm….I would like to disagree with that one. Just let me say…I’m pretty darn glad to not be working healthcare this year. At least it is now on the decline as you can see in the chart below. That doesn't mean we're out of the woods just yet, but it's definitely getting closer.

Anywho…my whole point in all this is that I made the mommy decision to stay out of the gym. The littlest munchkin isn't quite old enough to know to wash her hands after she touches (or egad puts in her mouth) all those germ infested toys in the daycare. Just so ya know…I’m cringing even as I type this!

As an alternative and weather permitting we've been to the park almost every day. The monkey is getting really good on all the play equipment. The other day I taught her how to swing on the big girl swings on her belly and push herself. She just LOVES it! Today she was the little queen of the playground….the ONLY girl in the whole place. It was sooo cute all the little boys wanted to help her on the slide….LOL….I’m laughing now. In a few years…not so much!

Wordless Wednesday - Weirdest Things

I don't know about your kids, but mine sometimes get excited about the weirdest things. Now don't get me wrong when they're SUPER cheap it's not a big deal...nor am I complaining. We made Hailey a bracelet out of duct tape and she LOVES it! Can ya tell?

Lovin' This Show!!

Source: PBS

I started watching Downton Abbey over the down time for the season between season 2 and 3. After watching just one show….I was hooked! How could you not be? Needless to say, I had to play catch up before Season 3 started a couple weeks ago.

If you haven’t watched it yet…you should. I don’t know about the rest of ya’ll, but I need another show to watch like I need more laundry! Bwa ha ha

It has the best of everything…it’s a period piece and has romance, drama and more drama….did I mention drama? I don’t think that before this show I had ever watched anything on PBS from Masterpiece. They’ve done an outstanding job and all the actors are awesome. You get sucked right into the story.

I don’t think I could tell you who my favorite character is...I’ve liked different people more or less in each season. I guess a constant that I love is the Dowager Countess played by Maggie Smith. I always love a good strong smart ass woman. Of course, we already know and love her from Harry Potter from the fifty million times we’ve seen those movies! You think I’m kidding? LOL

All I’ve got to say is thankfully I can DVR all my shows and watch them once the kiddos are in bed.

What’s your favorite show….have you watched Downton yet?

Heebee geebee’s

Ok, I officially have the heebee geebee’s. Now I know my kids have done some gross things over the years, but yesterday my 13 y.o. did a doozey. Can we say….yuck?

So to make a long story short… The boy was making himself something for lunch and then went back to what he was doing before. I came into the kitchen to find the counter a total mess (no surprise there) and have him come back in to clean it up.

I proceed to leave the room thinking no big deal…he can wipe up the counter and be done with it. Not so much! I hear him letting the dogs in from the backyard and as I walk back into the kitchen… what do I find? I find Tyler lifting our little dog up onto the counter so he can lick the food up off of it.

Needless to say (as I refrain from tossing my own cookies)…I ask him…what are you doing? At this time Olivia decides to come back into the room and informs me that this is NOT…I repeat NOT the first time he’s done this! Can I tell you…I am STILL irked as I type this!

What have your little darlings done that has you shaking your heads?

Where did the time go?

No seriously…where did it go…LOL. I hope everyone is having a great start to the New Year and had an awesome holiday. We had a super hectic and busy holiday, but it was awesome.

I don’t even know where to start. We went out of town for Christmas this year and that brings on a whole other set of stressors with trying to figure out logistics. How does Santa do it? I finally had to just simmer down and come to the conclusion that if this Christmas wasn’t all that great…that at least the older ones were on their last year of believing and Hailey wouldn’t remember it past this year.

I was thankfully stressed for no reason. It went waaaayyy better than I thought it would. We got to Florida the week before and were able to get all of our shopping done and wrapped with NO issues…thank god!
It was really nice to be able to spend time with all the fam right at Christmas instead of before or after...not to mention all the yummy food and desserts that went along with it.
As for New Years Eve the hubby and I stayed home...you couldn't pay me enough to be on the road with all the drunk and crazy people (not to mention we were recovering from the drive home).
