Wordless Wednesday - New ride
Our birthday girl...yes you heard me right...Hailey turned 2 on Sunday. She's stylin' with the latest toddler ride and in style with a Minnie mouse trike and Disney princess helmet. She's in heaven...other than being sick for another birthday...let's hope that this isn't going to be a habit every year!

Funny….and entertaining??
source |
I’m sure one thing that each of
us has in common is that we like to laugh and be entertained. When I get the
opportunity to do both I jump all over it! On that note…a couple months ago the
hubby bought us tickets to the Steve Martin bluegrass concert (Steve Martin and
bluegrass you say??….yea…I did too). I was like….what?
Don’t get me wrong, I've always
loved Steve Martin. He’s funny and seems like a really nice guy, but does he
really write music and play the banjo? Why yes, yes he does and rather well I've come to find out!
It was like a combination of
going to a laid back comedy club, a symphony show and a blue grass festival all
rolled into one. He played with the Steep Canyon Rangers and they were backed
up by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Sometimes it’s REALLY good to live in a
large metropolitan city….
It was so nice to be able to
have a grown up night out. We went to this really nice fish restaurant and then
on to the concert. It’s amazing what a night life Atlanta is getting to have
and the abundance of different restaurants. I’m sure we appreciate a night out
a little more than most cause we obviously don’t do it all that often.

I included some pics of the
night that were in the AJC this morning…hope everyone had a great weekend and a
good week to come!

Yes, your eyes don’t deceive you…
I AM actually posting on a
Monday again. I've been kinda slacking on the whole media thing over the last
couple of weeks (okay maybe a month or so). I think my post every day for the
month of November kinda burned me out. I've been literally scrapping by on the
whole blog thing ever since. (Mental note to self don’t overdo it on stuff even
the stuff ya like!)
Anywho…my whole thought process
on today’s post was to be about Hailey’s increasing song requests for bed time.
The old standards are no longer enough for her….yes she has already figured out
how to prolong the bed time routine! She comes up with the most random song
requests. I have now had to resort to hunting down lyrics on the internet and
printing them out so I can sing songs to her.
I do have to say though…bedtime
with her is one of my favorite times of the day!

Wordless Wednesday - Better late than never!
This would be something I hear almost
on a daily basis from my boys!!!
...and to my children that might happen upon this,
if you think I mean you...I most likely do :-P

Should have taken my own advice…
Ok, so as many of you know…a
couple weeks ago I was talking about how I’d made the decision to keep Hailey
out of the gym and aka germ infested daycare. The hubby talked me into taking
all the kids to the gym a little over a week ago and we’ve all been sick ever
since. Can we say arrrgghhhhh?? We can…and we can even say it again…arrrgghhhh!
source |
Hailey got sick first and the
rest of us soon followed. THIS would be the reason I’ve been so scarce on here
for the last week. Not to mention, the hubby ended up being sick and getting a
root canal all in the same week. Sooooo, can ya tell what kinda week I’ve had?
Come on spring…I am so looking
forward to being able to have the windows open and feel like some fresh air is circulating
through this sick infested house.
I hope ya’ll are getting over
your illnesses and are on the mend!

Wordless Wednesday - Bug on a bug
My little bug on a bug... You should see this child zip around on her little ladybug (of course the hardwood floors don't hurt the speed)...LOL!

Flu bug….don’t bother me (sung to shoo fly and crossin’ my fingers)
I don’t know how much you guys have been following this year’s flu epidemic, but it has been HUGE! Working
so many years in healthcare has made me a total germaphobe and I decided a
couple months ago to keep Hailey out of the gym daycare. Trust me…it wasn't an
easy decision because we both love it!
Source: CDC |
This year they didn't quite get
the flu shots right and they are only about 50% effective (I’m not saying you shouldn't get the flu shot…it’s just not as helpful as normal). Supposedly this
is the norm….I would like to disagree with that one. Just let me say…I’m pretty
darn glad to not be working healthcare this year. At least it is now on the decline as you can see in the chart below. That doesn't mean we're out of the woods just yet, but it's definitely getting closer.
Source: CDC |
Anywho…my whole point in all
this is that I made the mommy decision to stay out of the gym. The littlest
munchkin isn't quite old enough to know to wash her hands after she touches (or egad puts in her mouth) all those germ infested toys in the daycare. Just so ya
know…I’m cringing even as I type this!
As an alternative and weather
permitting we've been to the park almost every day. The monkey is getting
really good on all the play equipment. The other day I taught her how to swing
on the big girl swings on her belly and push herself. She just LOVES it! Today
she was the little queen of the playground….the ONLY girl in the whole place.
It was sooo cute all the little boys wanted to help her on the slide….LOL….I’m
laughing now. In a few years…not so much!

Wordless Wednesday - Weirdest Things
I don't know about your kids, but mine sometimes get excited about the weirdest things. Now don't get me wrong when they're SUPER cheap it's not a big deal...nor am I complaining. We made Hailey a bracelet out of duct tape and she LOVES it! Can ya tell?

Lovin' This Show!!
Source: PBS |
If you haven’t watched it yet…you
should. I don’t know about the rest of ya’ll, but I need another show to watch
like I need more laundry! Bwa ha ha
Source: PBS |
It has the best of everything…it’s
a period piece and has romance, drama and more drama….did I mention drama? I
don’t think that before this show I had ever watched anything on PBS from Masterpiece.
They’ve done an outstanding job and all the actors are awesome. You get sucked
right into the story.
Source: PBS |
I don’t think I could tell you
who my favorite character is...I’ve liked different people more or less in each
season. I guess a constant that I love is the Dowager Countess played by Maggie
Smith. I always love a good strong smart ass woman. Of course, we already know
and love her from Harry Potter from the fifty million times we’ve seen those
movies! You think I’m kidding? LOL
All I’ve got to say is
thankfully I can DVR all my shows and watch them once the kiddos are in bed.
What’s your favorite show….have
you watched Downton yet?

Wordless Wednesday - Bath Beauty
Freshly bathed...and as ready for bed as she's gonna get...LOL! Of course her obsession with all things princess has gone to her chosen pj's as well.

Heebee geebee’s
Ok, I officially have the
heebee geebee’s. Now I know my kids have done some gross things over the years,
but yesterday my 13 y.o. did a doozey. Can we say….yuck?
So to make a long story short…
The boy was making himself something for lunch and then went back to what he
was doing before. I came into the kitchen to find the counter a total mess (no
surprise there) and have him come back in to clean it up.
I proceed to leave the room
thinking no big deal…he can wipe up the counter and be done with it. Not so
much! I hear him letting the dogs in from the backyard and as I walk back into
the kitchen… what do I find? I find Tyler lifting our little dog up onto the
counter so he can lick the food up off of it.
Needless to say (as I refrain
from tossing my own cookies)…I ask him…what are you doing? At this time Olivia
decides to come back into the room and informs me that this is NOT…I repeat NOT
the first time he’s done this! Can I tell you…I am STILL irked as I type this!

Where did the time go?
No seriously…where did it go…LOL.
I hope everyone is having a great start to the New Year and had an awesome holiday.
We had a super hectic and busy holiday, but it was awesome.
I don’t even know where to
start. We went out of town for Christmas this year and that brings on a whole
other set of stressors with trying to figure out logistics. How does Santa do
it? I finally had to just simmer down and come to the conclusion that if this Christmas
wasn’t all that great…that at least the older ones were on their last year of believing
and Hailey wouldn’t remember it past this year.
I was thankfully stressed for
no reason. It went waaaayyy better than I thought it would. We got to Florida
the week before and were able to get all of our shopping done and wrapped with
NO issues…thank god!
It was really nice to be able to spend time with all the fam right at Christmas instead of before or after...not to mention all the yummy food and desserts that went along with it.
As for New Years Eve the hubby and I stayed home...you couldn't pay me enough to be on the road with all the drunk and crazy people (not to mention we were recovering from the drive home).
