Resorting to the list…

Romania
Ok, ya know I’ve put my post to the last minute or am totally having writers block if I resort to the post prompt list. Not that I think they’re a bad idea…they’re not. I just usually end up with better posts on my own.
The actual Dracula...ick

Today’s post prompt was: “Do you speak more than one language? How did you learn the additional languages?”

Why yes, yes I do know more than one language. Don’t we all? I had to do a language in both high school and college. I learned Spanish in high school and then in college I decided to do something a little different and took Romanian. Yes, Romanian. Is that totally off and bizarre or what? It would have been a heck of a lot easier if I’d just continued with Spanish, but oh no….I had to make it difficult. LOL

I know...when most of us think of Romania....we think Dracula. I however think Dracula and about all the stuff I learned while in the my language class.

The more hot version I'd rather think of!
It was actually really fun and interesting…I’m dating myself here, but at the time I was taking it my professors had escaped Romania right before all the issues with Ceausescu. He was a Communist leader in Romania that was hated by the Romanian people for good reason.

By the end of Ceausescu’s reign the control over the people of Romania was so strict that phone bugging was the norm and one in three people were informants for the government. His secret police maintained strict controls over free speech and the media… there were drastic shortages of food, medicines, and other basic necessities that drove the people to the point of near starvation.

Another big issue at this time was the ban on birth control. This caused a HUGE issue of abandoned children that were left neglected in orphanages. Many of these children were adopted here into the U.S. after the fall of Ceausescu.

Now that ya’ll had your blog history lesson of the day….

How many and what languages do ya’ll know?

My motivation is…

I’m almost half-way through the month….which means that I’m almost half-way to being done with writing EVERY day. Let me tell you it’s A LOT harder than it sounds (especially over the weekend).  I mean…I love ya’ll and all, but don’t get used to this every day thing!

I do believe that out of all this writing that I’ve decided to increase the number of days a week that I write, but every day is waaaaayyyy too much…besides absence make the heart grow fonder…right?? <<GRIN>>

Anywho…the girl and I had a fun and busy day today. All things she already enjoys (as in shopping and more shopping). I know…I’ve taught her right! Ya’ll are not going to believe this, but the child had another growth spurt and I had to buy her new shoes…AGAIN (I just bought her some right before Halloween…aka her Cinderella shoes)!

It’s so much easier taking her shopping in a stroller she actually likes. I got a new BOB stroller the other day and the very first day I put her in it…she didn’t want to get out. Now that is saying a lot. Not to mention she loves that this stroller is pink and has to point that out to everyone.

Hope ya’ll enjoy the pics of the day….

Blogging for Bloggings sake!

The theme for November's NaBloPoMo is blogging for blogging's sake. What the heck is NaBloPoMo you say? It stands for National Blog Posting Month and is brought to you by BlogHer.

My goal over the next month is to post DAILY….yikes! I don’t know how the heck I’m going to do it, but I am. Thank goodness I like most of the prompts they provide (of course the first one I was like, how the heck am I a) gonna come up with a whole post for that and b) how could I pick just one!).

Soooo, this is everyone’s fair warning…if you see some bizarro post on here…YES it is still me (He, he just kidding...no bizarre stuff)! I’ll just be broadening my horizons a bit…it can’t hurt! You lucky folks get to learn all kinds of handy dandy things about me and the fam that you never thought possible. Woo hoo…
