I don’t know how much you guys have been following this year’s flu epidemic, but it has been HUGE! Working
so many years in healthcare has made me a total germaphobe and I decided a
couple months ago to keep Hailey out of the gym daycare. Trust me…it wasn't an
easy decision because we both love it!

This year they didn't quite get
the flu shots right and they are only about 50% effective (I’m not saying you shouldn't get the flu shot…it’s just not as helpful as normal). Supposedly this
is the norm….I would like to disagree with that one. Just let me say…I’m pretty
darn glad to not be working healthcare this year. At least it is now on the decline as you can see in the chart below. That doesn't mean we're out of the woods just yet, but it's definitely getting closer.

Anywho…my whole point in all
this is that I made the mommy decision to stay out of the gym. The littlest
munchkin isn't quite old enough to know to wash her hands after she touches (or egad puts in her mouth) all those germ infested toys in the daycare. Just so ya
know…I’m cringing even as I type this!
As an alternative and weather
permitting we've been to the park almost every day. The monkey is getting
really good on all the play equipment. The other day I taught her how to swing
on the big girl swings on her belly and push herself. She just LOVES it! Today
she was the little queen of the playground….the ONLY girl in the whole place.
It was sooo cute all the little boys wanted to help her on the slide….LOL….I’m
laughing now. In a few years…not so much!
I can't believe how many people are sick! My niece has gotten the flu for the 2nd time ugh.
ReplyDeleteYikes...I feel her pain. We were all sick off and on for the month of December. Hailey still has a runny nose off and on now. Just trying to stay as well as we can till the flu season is over.
DeleteUgh...the dreaded flu! My entire family just got over it. Worst I've had in years! As the mom, I still ended up caring for the bunch even though I was the sickest out of us all...how does that happen? Moms are definitely the stronger species for sure! ReplyDeleteI hear ya...we are always the ones that have to put our illness aside and take care of the fam. I don't mind...part of the reason I went into healthcare. I know allll about the hand sanitizer...as soon as we get off the playground even I'm cleaning hands. Ya can't be too careful right now!
